Even in my sweaty shirt, sandy pants, and my worn walking shoes, I become a kindred spirit in the daily life of the ancient Roman ruins. In other ways, I look more like a pack mule with my easel, back pack, carrying case, and stool loaded on my back as I make my way each day through Pompeii. I load up my gear and walk out into the hot sandy road to Casa di Apollo. There, the guard locks the iron gate, and I am alone to paint in peace. I am transported back 2000 years in this romantic setting.
